Joelinton put the home side ahead before a Harry Kane double gave Tottenham Hotspur the lead in the North East.
But Joe Willock netted a late equaliser to hand Newcastle a vital point.
The draw against Spurs means the Magpies’ last win came back in February when his side defeated Southampton 3-2 at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United are hovering just one place above the relegation zone but they do have a game in hand on 18th-placed Fulham.
However, the London club play against Aston Villa in the late kick-off this evening.
If Scott Parker’s side manages a win, they will send Newcastle United into the relegation zone for the first time since October 2019.
Here, Shields Gazette Newcastle United writer Liam Kennedy delivers his player ratings after watching the game at St James’ Park:

11. Allan Saint-Maximin - 5

12. Joe Willock - 7
