The Frenchman’s assist and goal meant United walked away from Turf Moor with all three points – but who else shone on a successful day in the North West for the Magpies?
Here’s our writer Liam Kennedy’s player ratings – and he makes a big case for United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with ASM as United match-winner….
1. Martin Dubravka – 9
Did flap at a few crossed but in fairness had A LOT to deal with. Some top class saves kept United in it while they were behind. Positive in his movements, punching and collecting in crowded boxes when needed. Photo: Pool
2. Jacob Murphy – 8
A tough task dealing with Dwight McNeil down the left but has done his defensive work reasonably well and in an attacking sense Murphy showed that little bit of quality he has in his locker to level things up. Photo: STU FORSTER
3. Federico Fernandez – 5
Has looked a little shaky on return. Not had the calming influence everyone hoped. A tough day dealing with Wood and Vydra but nowhere near his best. Photo: Pool
4. Ciaran Clark – 4
Rubbish for the goal, not once but twice. A really poor return to the side, looks at sixes and sevens in the middle of the three. Slightly better in the second, one goal-saving header in there. Photo: Pool
