Newcastle United transfer latest: Magpies' rivals eye deals that could leave Steve Bruce further behind following Leeds United loss

Newcastle United were defeated by Leeds United at St James’s Park in the Premier League last night.

Following Newcastle United’s 2-1 loss to Leeds United in the Premier League, under-pressure Magpies boss Steve Bruce revealed what Marcelo Bielsa told him in their post-match chat at St James’s Park.

Bruce’s side, energised by the introduction of substitute Allan Saint-Maximin, pushed hard for an equaliser after Jack Harrison scored what would turn out to be the visitors’ winning goal.

Asked about his conversation with Bielsa, Bruce said: “He was very complimentary about our team, and said we deserved more. I thanked him for that. He acknowledged that we played very well.”

But what about transfers?

SkyBet are offering odds on Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll on joining Burnley and West Brom. The Baggies are priced at 3/1 to conclude a deal for the target man, whilst the Clarets are outside shots at 20/1.

However, reports suggest the Magpies are not likely to entertain any loan offers for the 32-year-old striker during the January transfer window.

In terms of fresh Newcastle United-related gossip this morning, the landscape remains quiet following the loss to Leeds United.

Several of the Magpies’ Premier League rivals, however, are eyeing deals that could leave Bruce further behind in their struggle in the top-flight this season.
