The 19-year-old broke into the Man United first-team during the 2023-24 season, making seven appearances in all competitions. The Red Devils offered the winger a new deal but it was turned down in favour of a four-year contract with Italian side Monza.

This comes after Newcastle United reportedly held talks with the youngster over a potential free transfer. Championship sides Middlesbrough and Sunderland were also linked with a move for the teenager. Monza issued an official statement on Wednesday, describing Forson as ‘one of the most promising prospects in Europe’.

The statement read: “Omari Nathan Forson is officially an AC Monza player. The English winger has signed a contract with the Biancorossi until 30th June 2028.

“Born in London on 20th July 2004, at the age of 14 he moved to Manchester United, where he made his mark in the Youth Sector.

“In January 2021, he signed his first professional contract with the English club. His brilliant growth path led him to the First Team in the summer of 2023, where he made his official debut in the FA Cup match against Wigan on 8th January 2024.

“Forson has made 14 appearances with England's youth national teams, from the Under 15 through to Under 20.

“One of the most promising prospects in Europe, Forson is Monza’s first signing of the 2024/25 season.”

Monza finished 12th in Serie A last season and have also been linked with a move for Loris Karius following confirmation of the goalkeeper’s release from Newcastle.
