'I doubt that' - Matthias Jaissle's spiky response to seven-week Newcastle United injury blow claim

It has been claimed that Newcastle United striker Will Osula could be out until mid-October.

Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle has hit back at reports in Denmark claiming Will Osula’s injury is worse than first feared.

Osula has missed the last two matches against West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham Hotspur after coming off injured in the Premier League opening day draw at home to Liverpool.

The 21-year-old sustained a foot problem in a collision with Reds goalkeeper Alisson midway through the first half and played on initially before succumbing to the pain early in the second half.

Matthias Jaissle’s spiky response to Will Osula reports

Jaissle is yet to provide a return date for Osula, but gave a spiky response to claims that his striker could be sidelined until after the upcoming international break.

The Magpies play four matches before then, facing AFC Bournemouth, Coventry City and Hull City in the Premier League, as well as travelling to Championship side Millwall in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

“I keep it with my answer already,” Jaissle said. “I don't know if the Danish journalists have more information than I have, I doubt that. So therefore I will not be a participant in these rumours or in this information from a Danish journalist.”

Osula is expected to miss the clash against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, as are Joelinton and Dan Burn, who are still yet to feature this season.

Tino Livramento could return after being spotted in first-team training for a second successive week, but Jaissle remained coy when asked about team news.

He said: “Yeah, due to the fact that we have a top medical department, everyone is progressing well, but everyone also progresses differently due to their injuries.

“Again, I mentioned that last time, and I will keep the same messages for all the press conferences here, that we're working at a top level in that department.

“We're doing [everything] from the morning till the evening that they're coming back as soon as possible, and that will be also with these guys.”
