Amar Dedic injury update as Matthias Jaissle considers Newcastle United change
Amar Dedic has not started a Newcastle United game since the 4-1 defeat to Leeds United on September 14.
Amar Dedic is inching towards full fitness and could return against Crystal Palace this weekend.
The 24-year-old was an unused substitute as Newcastle United lost 1-0 to Aston Villa. While he came off the bench against Coventry City earlier in the week, Dedic has not started a game since the 4-1 defeat to Leeds United on September 14.
Dedic - a player who worked under Matthias Jaissle at Red Bull Salzburg - made an immediate impression following his £30million summer arrival. Two assists against West Bromwich Albion and another against Tottenham Hotspur just days later had the Bosnian nailed down as Kieran Trippier’s heir at right-back.
However, a hamstring problem derailed his bright start but he could return to the starting line-up this weekend. Many fans questioned why Lewis Miley earned the nod over Dedic against Villa.

Amar Dedic fitness situation
It is understood that Dedic had not yet returned to full fitness so was not risked as Newcastle lost 1-0 to Unai Emery’s side. The defender is getting closer - handing a huge boost to Jaissle.
Dedic is a player who knows Jaissle’s system to a tee and the Magpies have struggled to implement his style in recent games. He credited the manager as a key reason behind leaving Benfica for Tyneside.
Footage released by the club’s social media team on Tuesday showed Dedic taking to the training field alongside his Newcastle teammates. The new recruit is certainly in with a chance of making a return to the starting line-up at Selhurst Park.
Matthias Jaissle on Amar Dedic
Jaissle highlighted Dedic’s knowledge of his system when praising the player last month. He told reporters: "Amar has been exceptional so far, pleased with how fast he has adapted to the team, the playing style, the league.
“He knows how I want to play football. (He has had an) amazing start, hopefully he can continue in the same way."
