Matthias Jaissle says what every Newcastle United fan is thinking after Bournemouth booking

Matthias Jaissle was disappointed at being shown a yellow card in Newcastle United’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has no plans to change his touchline antics after highlighting the behaviour of other Premier League managers.

The German was shown a yellow card during the Magpies’ 2-2 draw against Bournemouth last weekend for repeatedly leaving his technical area. The booking came in the 70th minute when United were pushing for an equaliser.

Jaissle’s side were 2-0 down inside the opening 35 minutes but Harvey Barnes pulled one back before half-time. Jacob Ramsey’s 88th-minute strike then rescued a point.

Jaissle made his disappointment about the yellow card known after the game and did so again when prompted ahead of the trip to Leeds United on night. And in defence of himself, the 38-year-old suggested he had been treated differently to other top-flight managers.

“I hope I don't need to adapt,” Jaissle said. “I was really clear that I was disappointed.

“I made it also really clear in many aspects, because from my point of view, if you're 20cm out of your box and you encourage and support your own team in a positive way, in an emotional way, I'm not sure if that is then a yellow card.

“Also, compare when I'm looking at some of my colleagues...”

Jaissle was then asked if he felt other managers who are as animated maybe don't get yellow cards, to which he replied: “You can say so.”

Jaissle quickly turned the table and asked the journalist what he thought. After the reporter said: “I saw one or two at the weekend”, a laughing Jaissle replied “me too, me too.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is most known for touchline antics, which were again on display in his side’s win over Chelsea on Sunday.
