Mauricio Pochettino drops hint about his next job amid Newcastle United interest

Pochettino is the odds-on favourite to be Newcastle United’s next manager as the Premier League considers a £300million takeover of the club.

The 48-year-old took Tottenham Hotspur to last season’s Champions League final, where they were beaten by Liverpool. Pochettino, sacked late last year, is determined to win his first trophy as manager at his next club.

“That moment will arrive when we have to win a trophy,” Pochettino told La Liga TV. “Society only recognises the one that wins a title and lifts it. We’re in this fight to try to do that.

“But we have lifted many ‘trophies’. When you leave a good impression with the people you worked with, helped people to progress or when people are proud to have worked with you – they’re also trophies that must be celebrated.”
