As Newcastle head into the final run of matches after the international break, they sit fifth in the Premier League table and just two points off a Champions League place with two games in hand. Eddie Howe’s side have also reached the final of the Carabao Cup but were beaten by Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.
The Magpies exited the FA Cup early as they were beaten by League One side Sheffield Wednesday in the third round.
Here’s every member of Newcastle’s squad this season ranked based on their performances and impact so far...

29. Fabian Schar - 9
While Sven Botman, Nick Pope and Kieran Trippier get the majority of the praise, Fabian Schar has flew under the radar given that he’s been Newcastle’s most consistent performer so far this season. It’s hard to fault him and the manner in which he’s stepped up with the rest of the team to form the joint-best defence in the Premier League. One of the only players who didn’t really put a foot wrong all season. While prone to the odd misplaced pass, his pin-point long-balls out from the back helped start many a Newcastle attack and saw the Swiss international grab a few assists for himself. 30. Joelinton - 9
Enjoyed an incredible campaign and built on the impressive progress he made last season in midfield while also proving his worth on the left-wing. Enjoyed his best scoring season to date with eight goals. Two yellow card suspensions served over the season were the only downside to an otherwise brilliant season that was rewarded with a first international call-up for Brazil. Photo: Michael Regan
