Newcastle United announce pre-season friendly with Sunderland's League One rivals

Steve Bruce’s side are set to travel to the Pirelli Stadium on July 30 in what is scheduled to be a 7:45pm kick-off.

The League One outfit is the third friendly the Magpies have confirmed as they map out their preparations for the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

Newcastle will face both National League North side York City and League Two club Harrogate Town on Sunday, July 18 with Bruce’s squad splitting into two.

The Magpies’ only previous visit to Burton came during their 2016/17 Championship-winning season, where goals from Dwight Gayle and Mo Diame earned a 2-1 victory.

As stated on the club website, ticketing information for the trip to face the Brewers, along with the York and Harrogate, will be confirmed in due course, along with details of any further pre-season matches.
