Newcastle United defender urges caution as Premier League consider next steps

The Premier League season was suspended indefinitely last month as the country moved into lockdown – and clubs, for the moment, are committed to restarting when it’s deemed safe to do so.

Yedlin – who has also spoken about the proposed Newcastle United takeover – has given is view on finishing the campaign in an interview with ESPN FC.

“I think, first and foremost, finances have to not be looked at when it comes to this, because you’re talking about people’s lives,” said 26-year-old Yedlin. “That’s greater than anybody’s money.

“As a player, you’d love to be back playing, and you want to see the season finish. But if it’s not right, then you can’t do it. It’s quite simple. We all want to see the season finish, but if it can’t happen, it can’t happen. We’ll just wait and see what happens.”
