Newcastle United eye permanent deal for Joe Willock – while fans give their verdict on signing Arsenal midfielder
Newcastle United are understood to be exploring the prospect of signing Joe Willock from Arsenal on a permanent basis this summer – but fans are far from confident the Magpies will be able to secure a deal.
As part of our end-of-season review we asked YOU for your thoughts and opinions on a number of different subjects as part of our BIG Shields Gazette Newcastle United survey.
And here’s what you thought about the prospect of seeing Willock back in black and white.
Of the 1,621 people polled, a resounding 98.9% of people believe the Magpies should look to make the Willock move a permanent one.
It is understood the Gunners are looking to recoup around £20-25million for the player who netted eight goals for United, having only signed in the January window.
So, we asked fans ‘how confident are you that Newcastle can actually do this?’.
The results this time were a little less conclusive.
Of the 1,622 responses recorded just six votes were cast for ‘very confident’. That translates to just 0.4% of all the votes cast.
Those who said they are ‘hopeful’ a deal can be done came next in line with 6.8%, while a further 9% said they were ‘unsure’ whether the Magpies would sign Willock up for next season and beyond.
A further 28.9% of votes cast fell in the ‘no chance’ category, while the outright winner of this poll was ‘unlikely’ at 55%.
That equates to more than three quarters of votes cast thinking a deal for Willock is unlikely or worse.
