Newcastle United fans given hope of return by Premier League discussions
Newcastle United fans could be back inside St James’s Park well before the turn of the year, according to a report.
The Premier League will restart next week behind closed doors following a three-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic – and there are fears that most, or all, of next season could have to be played in empty stadiums.
However, the Mirror report that the Premier League has met Government officials and medical experts to discuss the possibility of letting supporters back inside grounds. Some fans could even be allowed into Wembley for the FA Cup final on August 1.
The move comes after La Liga president Javier Tebas floated the idea of letting a small number of fans into stadiums before the end of the campaign.
