Newcastle United fans' travel plans hit by airline ‘collapse’

Newcastle United fans are set to be left without transport to Southampton – with Flybe expected to go out of business.

The BBC report that the airline, which has seen bookings hit by the coronavirus outbreak, “is set to collapse within hours”.

Newcastle are playing Southampton at the St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

And many United supporters had booked Newcastle-Southampton flights with Flybe for the Premier League fixture.

Flybe, which connects the UK regions, had appealed for help from the Government.
