Southampton ‘hold talks’ over Nuno Tavares

Southampton have made contact with Benfica over signing Nuno Tavares but Newcastle and Brighton also remain in the mix.

That’s according to Portuguese publication A Bola, with Benfica happy to offload the left-back and help fund a move for Wolves’ Ruben Vinagre.

The Eagles want around £12.8m-£17.1m for the 21-year-old.

Newcastle named as potential destination for Harry Winks

Former Aston Villa and Scotland manager Alex McLeish has named Newcastle as a potential destination for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks.

Speaking to Football Insider, the 62-year-old, when asked which club Winks could join this summer, told Football Insider: “Newcastle United would they not fancy him?

“Aston Villa too. I don’t know if Aston Villa have got enough midfielders. He’s certainly bright enough to play for some of these teams.

“The price tag’s a little bit high in my opinion. However, I don’t think he’ll go amiss of getting a new club.”

Reports suggest Spurs want £30m for Winks but could accept a lower fee.
