5. Jamal Lewis - 5
Made a very shaky start to the game as he was caught out by the League One side but improved as the game went on. Photo: PAUL ELLIS

6. Elliot Anderson - 5
Headed over early on and almost gifted Wednesday a goal with a woefully under-hit backpass. Had a great chance to equalise early in the second half that was saved. Photo: Jan Kruger

7. Sean Longstaff - 5
Was steady enough in the middle but didn’t do enough to help the side as he was withdrawn on the hour mark with The Magpies trailing 1-0.

8. Joelinton - 7
Helped Newcastle win some key battles in midfield. Blasted the ball over the bar from the edge of the box before his outstretched leg led to Sheffield breaking away for their second goal. Created a good chance for himself with a solo effort that hit the side netting.
