Right-back Javier Manquillo has finally returned to training after missing the entirety of pre-season due to injury.
The 28-year-old spent the early part of pre-season in Spain receiving specialist treatment as the rest of the Newcastle squad travelled to Austria and Portugal in preparation for the new season.

And with fellow right-backs Kieran Trippier and Emil Krafth both getting equal minutes throughout July, Manquillo heads into the new campaign as United’s firm third choice at right-back.
Despite Trippier’s arrival and Krafth’s form during the second half of last season, the Spaniard still made 13 appearances under head coach Eddie Howe.
Newcastle open their season against Nottingham Forest at St James's Park on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
