Newcastle United 'in talks over £12.5m deal'

Head coach Steve Bruce – who loaned Jetro Willems and Danny Rose last season – is looking to sign a left-back this summer, and Sky in Italy claim that the club is in discussions with Sassuolo over a move for 22-year-old Rogerio, who would reportedly command a fee of £12.5million.

Rogerio – who played for Brazil at youth level – joined the Serie A club on a permanent deal from Juventus last summer after two successful loans.

Newcastle, close to signing free agent Ryan Fraser following the winger’s release from Bournemouth, have also held talks with PAOK over a £4million move for 24-year-old left-back Dimitris Giannoulis.

United, meanwhile, complete their pre-season campaign this afternoon with a behind-closed-doors game against Championship club Stoke City at St James’s Park.
