'Such a talented player' - Matthias Jaissle says what everyone is thinking about Newcastle United star
Matthias Jaissle hailed the ‘amazing’ efforts of Lewis Hall after the England defender helped Newcastle United beat Hull City.
Lewis Hall scored his first St James’ Park goal for Newcastle United in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Hull City.
Prior to the game, Hall had exclusively scored goals for Newcastle in the city of Manchester, twice scoring against Manchester United at Old Trafford and once against Manchester City at the Ethiad Stadium.
Hall’s strike made it 2-0 to Newcastle after seven minutes with Joe Willock also scoring early on. Hull pulled a goal back in the second half through Mohamed-Ali Cho and pushed for an equaliser but the Magpies were able to hold out for all three points.

It saw Hall continue his memorable September so far, which has seen him turn 22, sign a new long-term deal at Newcastle and return to the England senior squad while also contributing a goal and two assists in four matches this month - equalling his goal contribution tally from the whole of the 2025/26 campaign.
And Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle expressed his admiration for the left-back following Saturday’s win.
“He's such a talented player, really focused, really committed,” he told the Gazette.
“Again, I think when you look at the statistics, probably he's already at the same numbers compared to the whole last season. He's doing an amazing job and I think he has a bright, bright future.”

Speaking on social media after the win, Hall posted an image of his celebration along with the caption: “3 points before the break. Some atmosphere today Geordies, let’s keep pushing.”
Hall will now join up with the England squad for the Nations League matches against Spain, Czechia and Croatia. The full-back infamously missed out on a World Cup spot in the summer but has bounced back from the disappointment with a strong start to the season at Newcastle.
The defender admitted his disappointment at missing out on the World Cup but has vowed to make an impact on his return to the England set-up.
“It's always nice to go there and create a good impression,” Hall said. “So, yes, I'll be looking to do that. But I'm just looking forward to meeting up with everyone again, because it's been a while.”
