Newcastle United linked with bizarre £12m transfer move

Steve Bruce has been linked with a £12million move for Manchester United defender Phil Jones.

Bruce has strength in depth in the England international’s position at Newcastle United.

However, The Mirror claims that Bruce will “throw Jones a lifeline”.

The 28-year-old can reportedly leave Old Trafford at the end of the season. Jones is said to be “open to a move”, having only made a handful of appearance this season.

Meanwhile, defender Federico Fernandez, 31, this week signed a new one-year deal at Newcastle.
