Newcastle United linked with SIX new signings as Magpies 'eye' £18m double swoop
Newcastle United are planning ahead to the summer after securing a 12th place finish in the Premier League this season.
And transfer speculation is already beginning to build – here are the latest rumours surrounding the Magpies:
Newcastle ‘rekindle’ interest in Choudhury – and ‘push ahead’ with Ajer transfer
Newcastle United have rekindled their interest in Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury, while they are also pushing ahead to sign Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer and Wigan Athletic’s Kyle Joseph.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claims the trio, along with Joe Willock from Arsenal, are of interest this summer but Steve Bruce faces needing to generate funds through sales having been handed a budget of just £12million.
It is claimed the Magpies are “advancing” with their £8m swoop for Ajer. Joseph is out-of-contract this summer but Wigan will be entitled to compensation for their academy graduate.
Meanwhile, United have reportedly slapped a £70m price tag on star man Allan Saint-Maximin, a figure that will likely price clubs out of a summer move.
Toon ‘open talks’ with US defender
Newcastle are among three clubs to hold talks over signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, reports in the US claim.
Carter-Vickers has spent the last year on loan at Bournemouth and Jonathan Woodgate’s side want to acquire him permanently, however could face competition from Newcastle and Anderlecht, according to SBI Soccer.
With one-year remaining on his contract in North London, Spurs are open to selling for around the £10m mark.
Four MLS clubs have also expressed interest in the American but a move is unlikely due to his salary.
Sunderland starlet on Newcastle’s radar – reports
Sunderland starlet Josh Hawkes remains of interest to Newcastle United, according to a report.
The Magpies were frequently linked with the 21-year-old during his time at National League side Hartlepool United before he signed a two-year deal with the Black Cats last summer.
And his impressive form for their under-23s, who have reached the Premier League 2 Group 2 play-off final, has kept him on other clubs’ radar.
As per TEAMTalk, West Ham and Crystal Palace are leading the chase, while Newcastle and Leeds remain keen on the attacking midfielder.
