Newcastle United 'make decision' on Steve Bruce as bookmakers back club for relegation

Bookmakers are tipping Newcastle United to go down following Fulham’s win at Anfield.

Steve Bruce’s side, without Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson, took a point from a goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns this afternoon.

The club moved up to 16th place, but it saw its cushion cut to just one point after third-bottom Fulham, Newcastle’s opponents on the final day of the season, beat Premier League champions Liverpool 1-0.

Bookies now make Newcastle evens to go down behind West Brom and Sheffield United following a shift in odds. Fulham, promoted last summer, are 13/8 to be relegated following an impressive run of results under Scott Parker, the former Newcastle midfielder.

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph report that Bruce – who, up to now, has retained owner Mike Ashley’s backing – will not be sacked ahead of Friday night’s home game against Aston Villa, his former club.
