Newcastle United 2026/27 squad numbers confirmed after £83m triple deal & surprise new No. 10
Newcastle United 2026/27 squad numbers have been revealed, including the three new summer signings and several changes.
Newcastle United are just a month away from the start of the new 2026/27 Premier League season.
The new home kit has been released; the new away kit is coming this week but several major departures have been confirmed with only three senior squad players coming into the club in the opposite direction.
Kieran Trippier left as a free agent, Aaron Ramsdale’s loan was not made permanent and the club agreed the sales of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali to Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. Captain Bruno Guimaraes is also facing an uncertain future amid interest from Arsenal.

Newcastle have recruited so far this summer, just not at the pace the club or supporters would have hoped given the high-profile exits. Three youngsters have been signed: Ewen Jaouen as an £18million goalkeeper replacement for Ramsdale, 18-year-old Sean Steur provides a fresh midfield option at £23million, while 20-year-old Bazoumana Toure is arguably the most high-profile addition having arrived from Hoffenheim for £42million.
But that comes with the club missing out on a couple of high-profile targets in Victor Munoz to Liverpool and Johan Manzambi to Aston Villa.
New signing squad numbers confirmed
Details regarding Newcastle United’s new shirt numbers for the 2026/27 season have emerged on the club’s official website. Steur will wear the No. 14 shirt previously worn by Alexander Isak, who was sold to Liverpool at the end of last summer’s transfer window.
Toure will wear the No. 17 shirt last worn by Emil Krafth, who was released earlier this summer. And Jaouen will wear the No. 24 shirt last worn by Miguel Almiron prior to his transfer to Atlanta United in January 2025.
Newcastle United squad number changes
The most notable squad number change sees the No. 10 shirt vacated by Gordon filled by 22-year-old William Osula. The forward enjoyed a strong end to the season for Newcastle, ending the 2025/26 campaign with nine goals to his name.
His changed squad number from 18 to 10 hints at a more significant role in Eddie Howe’s side for the upcoming season.
Tino Livramento’s squad number has also changed from No. 21 to No. 2 following Trippier’s departure. The third shirt number change involves Anthony Elanga, who has swapped to No. 20 from No. 19.
Vacant squad numbers
Two squad numbers from 1-11 remain vacant heading into the new season as things stand. The No. 6 shirt last worn by Jamaal Lascelles prior to his departure at the start of the year and the recently vacated No. 8 shirt last worn by Sandro Tonali.
Those are two big squad numbers any new signings between now and deadline day to consider. It also hints at potential midfield and defensive additions on the back of losing Lascelles and Tonali from the squad in 2026.
