Newcastle United issue official injury update on key trio ahead of Everton clash
Newcastle United team news: Matthias Jaissle has delivered an injury update ahead of Thursday’s Carabao Cup trip to Everton.
Lewis Miley and Matias Fernandez-Pardo missed Newcastle United’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday and Matthias Jaissle has confirmed the pair remain doubtful for the Carabao Cup trip to Everton on Thursday night.
Miley was ruled out with a glute injury while Fernandez-Pardo has been suffering with illness in recent weeks.
When asked for an update on the pair ahead of the trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Jaissle said: “These two players are still doubtful, there are question marks if they can make it, so we need to see step by step.

“There are still two days to decide if they're able to be in the squad or not, so with both of them we don't want to take any additional risk. Hopefully they're getting back soon.”
Elsewhere in the squad, Ewen Jaouen and Tino Livramento remain sidelined with more long-term injuries. Jaouen suffered a serious hamstring injury during the previous international break that would rule him out for at least two months while Livramento suffered a knee injury that has seen him miss the last four matches as well as international duty with England.
When asked for an update on Livramento, Jaissle explained: “I don't want to be there too much in detail as I don't want to put too much pressure on him, first of all, but also not on the medical department, this is usually my approach when it comes to injuries.
“I can just assure you that I see him every day with great professionalism in the rehab, hard-working, so hopefully we have him back soon, and also hopefully that he's stable in his approach when he's joining us.”
