Newcastle United news: Contract renewal latest plus defender blow ahead of Aston Villa

Talks to renew the contracts of Newcastle United’s first-team squad are “on-going”, according to Magpies’ boss Steve Bruce.

A number of players, including Federico Fernandez, are out of contract this summer with the likes of Fabian Schar, DeAndre Yedlin and Isaac Hayden 12 months later.

And Bruce has revealed that while talks go on between club chief Lee Charnley and the players in question, positive news is just around the corner.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has revealed the concerns over Matt Ritchie’s ankle injury are also “on-going”.
