‘I will’ - Dan Burn makes plea to Matthias Jaissle as Newcastle United manager
Dan Burn is fit and available as Newcastle United aim to bounce back from a disastrous defeat to Coventry City.
Dan Burn is ready to play his part at Newcastle United after recovering from an ankle injury.
Appointed captain in the summer, the Blyth native had to wait until stoppage time against Coventry City to skipper the side. Newcastle conceded four on the night and fans have debated whether Burn should return to the starting line-up to shore up the leaky backline.
A whirlwind few months resulted in the 34-year-old starring at the World Cup before being made Toon captain. However, the ankle setback disrupted Burn’s start to the campaign and he is eager to get back in action.

Dan Burn on Newcastle United fitness
Burn has now insisted that he is fit and available but will wait for his chance to shine. The natural man to miss out would be Sven Botman despite his wonder goal at Coventry.
Newcastle - aiming to bounce back from the Coventry City horror show - host Aston Villa on Saturday. Both sides were ripped apart during the summer transfer window and are in a transition phase.
“Hopefully,” Burn said when asked if he will play this weekend. “I've been working hard to get fit so I'm looking to get an opportunity at some point. The lads who have been playing have been doing really well. So I will have to work hard to get back in."
Dan Burn message to Newcastle United teammates
Burn also rallied his Newcastle troops following the 4-1 drubbing on Monday. The defender “understands” the fans’ frustrations but insisted they are aiming to set the record straight on home soil.
"We don't have time to dwell on it,” Burn added. “I know we will look through this game. There are a lot of things we should have done better. But we will be looking to bounce back against Villa.
“Everybody is very disappointed, which you expect, and I understand frustration from fans when they have travelled all that distance. As I say, we are trying to put it right… starting against Villa."
