Newcastle United news: Hopes raised injured duo will make Crystal Palace return plus transfer latest as defender deal eyed

Newcastle United injured duo Miguel Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey have both been pictured in training ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

The club released training pictures of the first-team squad this afternoon with Almiron pictured running with the main group. Shelvey was shown working in the gym, but has dropped a hint he will return to skipper the side against the Eagles on Saturday.

Meanwhile, United remain in pole position to sign Carlisle United defender Jarred Branthwaite.
