‘Legacy’ - Daniel Farke hails Eddie Howe before Leeds United vs Newcastle United
Daniel Farke has discussed Leeds United’s midweek defeat to Chelsea and Eddie Howe’s legacy ahead of Newcastle United’s trip to Elland Road.
Daniel Farke has defended his decision to make eight changes before Leeds United’s thrilling defeat to Chelsea in midweek.
Newcastle United are set to face a wounded animal when Matthias Jaissle’s men travel to Elland Road on Monday. The Whites led 2-0 against Chelsea on 48 minutes and a spot in the Carabao Cup fourth round appeared nailed on.
However, four goals in 12 minutes stunned Leeds, with the Blues eventually earning a 6-3 win. Farke’s side will now welcome Newcastle to West Yorkshire in the final game of the Premier League weekend.

‘Crazy’ - Daniel Farke
Farke acknowledged the “crazy” nature of the Carabao Cup defeat but insisted Leeds have “bigger” fish to fry. He told reporters: "It was a crazy game. It happens sometimes, especially in the early round of the cup when there are many changes.
“Football games sometimes develop in this way and overall there were very tight statistics. It was tough to take because we wanted to go to the next round but I think it was a risk we had to take because some players needed rest and some needed important minutes. We have already drawn a line under it and we have bigger games ahead."

Farke also paid credit to Eddie Howe while discussing the Newcastle clash. When asked about the Magpies’ unbeaten start, he added: “Good, (they’ve had a) bright start. I’ve never met him (Jaissle) yet, never before. It will be the first time for me.
“What I can say is that, first of all, I appreciate so much what Eddie Howe has done. I think he has left a legacy there and did a tremendous job over many years. It’s never easy for a new manager to follow the footpath but the early signs are good.
“But it seems like they have already created a strong bond. The key players are in good spirits. They’re definitely difficult to beat and dangerous on the counter-attack. It will be a difficult task but we will try to win as many points as possible.”
