Confirmed - Matthias Jaissle announces exciting six-man backroom staff at Newcastle United
Newcastle United have confirmed Matthias Jaissle’s six-man backroom staff.
Matthias Jaissle will be supported by a six-man entourage as he attacks a fresh challenge at Newcastle United.
The German was officially announced last night despite being at the club’s pre-season base in La Manga since Saturday. It is understood that the hold-up to confirm Jaissle as Eddie Howe’s successor was a request from Al-Ahli - his former club.
Jaissle brings his entire backroom team from the Saudi Pro League club, giving Newcastle players plenty of fresh voices for the upcoming campaign. They will be in the dugout when the Magpies take on Valencia this weekend.

Matthias Jaissle backroom staff confirmed
Newcastle will work alongside three assistant coaches: Alexander Hauser, Engin Yanova and Florens Koch. The latter is a fellow German, with Yanova (Turkey) and Hauser (Austria) giving a multicultural feel to Jaissle’s backroom setup.
Alexander Bade arrives at goalkeeper coach, with Maximilian Fischer and Steffen Konrad as coach analysts. Fischer specialises in match evaluation while Konrad is focused on video.
One criticism of last season was Newcastle looking stale under Eddie Howe. With fresh faces and ideas, the Magpies should have a renewed spring in their step heading into the new campaign.
‘Non negotiable’ - Matthias Jaissle
Discussing his playing style to the club website, Jaissle laid down the gauntlet with three non-negotiables: trust, respect and pure commitment. When asked what Newcastle fans can expect, he said: “Always front-footed, really intense, aggressive, definitely vertical in our approach… how we want to play football.
“I think that's a perfect fit to the DNA of Newcastle United. There are also some values for me that are not negotiable. We just talked with the staff members about these three values I use: trust, respect and pure commitment.
“If everyone is on the same boat and we go in the same direction, then it's going to be a really successful journey. We only have three weeks (until the start of the season). Now is the transition. We try to build up what Eddie was doing here, an amazing development over the last (few) years, and we just try to build on that.”
