The 3-0 scoreline in favour of the Gunners extended the Magpies and Bruce’s winless run to nine matches, scoring just four goals in the process.
United fans once again took to social media to voice their anger towards the 60-year-old, with a large majority calling for him to walk away from the job.
Bookmakers this morning have slashed odds on the former Manchester United defender being the next Premier League manager to be sacked.
Paddy Power have also opened up a ‘next Newcastle manager’ market. Check out our gallery to see the early contenders leading the way – if Bruce is to leave St James’s Park:
Blanc has won all there is to win in France across three-year spells with Bordeaux (2007-10) and Paris-Saint Germain (2013-16), as well as managing the national team. The 55-year-old was only recently appointed manager of Qatari side Al-Rayyan last month. Photo: NICOLAS TUCAT
The Magpies legend himself said it is extremely unlikely he’ll return to management following his interim spell as Newcastle boss in 2009. Would Shearer leave his booming punditry career behind to work under Mike Ashley again? We doubt it... Photo: Catherine Ivill
The former England under-17s World Cup-winning boss has earned plenty of plaudits in his first senior management job with Swansea City, who currently sit second in the Championship table after reaching the play-offs last season. Photo: George Wood
Eighteen months on from his St James’s Park exit and Benitez is still firmly on the mind of Newcastle fans and pundits who continue to create Bruce v Benitez debate. If a takeover is to happen then why not? If it isn’t, then it’s highly unlikely the Spaniard will return under the current ownership. Photo: STR
