Newcastle United player drops hint about his future

Jamaal Lascelles says he’d be happy to spend the rest of his career at Newcastle United.

Lascelles made his 100th Premier League appearance for the club in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The 28-year-old, signed from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2014, is under contract until 2024 after signing a new long-term deal last season – and he can imagine himself staying at the club “the whole time”.

"From playing first-team football, the players who have caught my eye are the ones who stay at a club the whole time,” said Lascelles, who was appointed captain in 2016.

"I think that's a bit more special than a player who skips around teams – a season here and there – whereas a player who sticks at one club has a relationship with the fans, and the city, and Newcastle as a whole. I'd much prefer to do it that way."
