Newcastle United player ratings v Everton: Two 9/10s, 'silky' Nick Woltemade & Lewis Miley 'so good'
Everton 1-4 Newcastle United player ratings: Here’s how Malick Thiaw, Lewis Miley, Nick Woltemade and co fared at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Newcastle United beat Everton 4-1 in the Premier League on Saturday evening - here are the player ratings from the match.

Eddie Howe made six changes to the side that lost 2-1 at Marseille in the Champions League on Tuesday night with goalkeeper Nick Pope dropping out due to a groin injury. Aaron Ramsdale came in for his full Premier League debut while Lewis Hall, Lewis Miley, Joelinton, Anthony Elanga and Nick Woltemade came in for Fabian Schar, Jacob Murphy, Sandro Tonali, Joe Willock and Anthony Gordon.
Newcastle went into the game having not won away from home in the Premier League since April. But on their first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, they got off to a flyer as Malick Thiaw headed in his first goal for the club since his £35million arrival from AC Milan.
Newcastle had taken the lead in each of their last three away matches but ended up losing all three. Failing to find the second goal in those games was ultimately United’s undoing but on this occasion things were different as Lewis Miley lashed in a second to make it 2-0 before the half-hour mark.
Nick Woltemade then made it 3-0 just before half-time with a cheeky dink over Pickford after some good work from Anthony Elanga to set him up.
Newcastle made it 4-0 early in the second half as Thiaw headed in his second of the game from a Lewis Hall cross.
Everton thought they’d pulled a goal back through Thierno Barry but VAR intervened to rule the strike out for handball. Shortly after the hosts did pull a goal back as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall brought the ball down inside the area before applying a tidy finish past Ramsdale.
Newcastle were still able to see out a comfortable win to make it consecutive victories in the Premier League for the first time this season.

Here are the Newcastle United player ratings from the match (half-time ratings available here)...
Aaron Ramsdale - 7
In the side for his full Premier League debut for Newcastle. Played a couple of smart passes out from the back and made one excellent save to claw the ball off the line. Could do little about the goal.
Tino Livramento - 6
Looked a little off with his touch when trying to carry the ball forward. His energy and work-rate helped Newcastle pose a threat down the right.
Malick Thiaw - 9
Scored his first goal for the club inside the opening minute. Made it 4-0 with another great header in the second half. Let Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall get the wrong side of him for Everton pulling a goal back.
Dan Burn - 7
Did well to block Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s low cross. Reacted smartly to keep the play alive to set up Miley’s goal.
Lewis Hall - 7
An important block early on. Hit the bar with a deflected effort. Missed a few opportunities to get the ball into the box before finally putting the ball on a plate for Thiaw to make it 4-0.

Lewis Miley - 9
Put a great ball into the box to set up Thiaw. Grabbed his first goal of the season with a powerful strike to force an error from Jordan Pickford. Battled well in midfield to win back possession on a few occasions. So good to see him shining on his return to the line-up.
Bruno Guimaraes - 7
Kept his composure in the middle of the park to steer Newcastle into a strong position. A classy display without having to do anything flashy.
Joelinton - 7
Made some important defensive contributions and carried the ball well at times. In and out of the game in an attacking sense.
Anthony Elanga - 7
Burst clear to win the corner inside the opening minute that led to Thiaw’s goal. Drove forward well with the ball and asked questions of the defenders. His hard work was rewarded with his first assist of the season to set up Woltemade. Faded in the second half before his withdrawal.
Harvey Barnes - 6
Saw two good opportunities saved by Jordan Pickford. Played with confidence on the ball and made an important goal-line block in the second half at 3-0.
Nick Woltemade - 8
Released Elanga for a good opportunity in the opening minutes. Typically strong hold up play when dropping deep. A filthy chip put Newcastle 3-0 up just before the break.
Substitutes
Joe Willock - 7
On for Elanga 71: Brought good energy to the midfield. Played Ramsey in for a good chance.
Jacob Ramsey - 6
On for Barnes 71: Had a couple of clever touches and helped see out the win on the left wing. Had a good opportunity to score but his final touch let him down as Pickford saved it.
Sandro Tonali - n/a
On for Guimaraes 90
Anthony Gordon - n/a
On for Woltemade 90
