A goalless first half saw Newcastle denied a penalty appeal as neither side really tested the opposing goalkeeper. The second half proved to be a similar affair as The Magpies continued to play on the front foot without having any meaningful shots on target.
The draw sees Eddie Howe’s side climb back up to third in the Premier League table and go a club record 15 top flight matches without defeat.
Here are the Newcastle United player ratings from the match...
9. Miguel Almiron - 6
Got into some decent areas and linked play up well at times but didn’t pose much of an attacking threat. | Getty Images
10. Joelinton - 6
Poor in front of goal with two tame shots straight at the goalkeeper. Still put in a good shift drifting between midfield and the left. Booked. | AFP via Getty Images
11. Callum Wilson - 5
Led the line with aggression and endeavour but not a lot of quality or service. Glanced a header straight at the goalkeeper in what was probably his best chance of the match. Seven games without a goal now for the No. 9, which will no doubt be a concern for the player. | AFP via Getty Images
12. Allan Saint-Maximin - 6
On for Willock 69: Had a chance late on but it was blocked at the back post. Gave Newcastle something different in the final third when they were struggling to break through. Photo: Stu Forster
