Newcastle United player undergoes operation after suffering season-ending injury

The Newcastle United defender damaged ankle ligaments at the Emirates Stadium last month.

And Clark, 30, will miss the rest of the campaign, which is likely to be delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“Ciaran Clark had an operation on his ankle,” said head coach Steve Bruce, who has lost goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to a knee injury.

“In terms of injuries, the ones we’ve had, impact injuries, have been quite incredible.”
