Newcastle United take decisive action to end faltering move
Elias Sorensen has been recalled from a loan spell – for the second successive season.
Newcastle United today revealed that Sorensen’s season-long loan at League Two club Carlisle United had ended early.
The striker – who made his first-team debut in the summer after being called into the club’s squad for the Premier League Asia Trophy in China – had found his first-team opportunities limited at Brunton Park.
A United statement read: “Newcastle United have recalled Elias Sorensen from his loan spell with League Two side Carlisle United. The 20-year-old could be involved in tonight's Premier League International Cup fixture against Blackburn Rovers at Whitley Park.”
Sorensen, under contract at St James’s Park until 2022, was recalled from a loan spell at Blackpool last season after playing just 32 minutes of League One football. The Denmark Under-21 international said he was “devastated” at the time.
