Newcastle United star rocked by World Cup bombshell - set to be sent home
Newcastle United injuries: Tino Livramento is set to be sent home from England’s World Cup squad after picking up an injury.
Tino Livramento’s World Cup dream is set to be over before it even started for the England and Newcastle United star.
According to The Daily Mail, Livramento has suffered a low-grade tear to his calf which will rule him out for a few weeks. As a result, he will be sent home from the England camp and potentially replaced.
The 23-year-old right-back was called up to England’s World Cup squad despite an injury-hit second half of the season at Newcastle.
Livramento missed the final five games of Newcastle’s Premier League season due to a thigh injury. Prior to that, he missed over two months of the season due to a knee problem.

Thomas Tuchel on England squad
Livramento recovered from his thigh injury at Newcastle to secure his spot on the plane to the United States earlier this month.
He was spotted in training and played in the warm-up match against New Zealand, earning his fifth senior cap. He was then an unused substitute in the following warm-up win over Costa Rica.
England manager Thomas Tuchel stated previously: “I'm a very lucky manager because I could choose a group and go to the World Cup with the group I've chosen!
“I'm a very, very lucky manager. I was very nervous in the last weeks when I saw players going out injured. I instantly texted them to say, ‘Is everything ok?’
“You need this kind of luck if we want to go a long way. If we're unlucky with key moments in key matches, it's not the same thing. We will always try to find solutions, because we don't want to be fully dependent on individual players.
“Now it's beautiful that we can train in the full-size squad. The young players we took are doing excellent. Every match has the risk of an injury, but let's touch wood and not talk so much about it. The manager is lucky and happy. We have the chance to let everyone play.”
Livramento to be replaced?
But ahead of Wednesday night’s opener against Croatia, England have been dealt a slice of bad luck with Livramento now ruled out of the tournament.
Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah has been tipped as a potential replacement for Livramento, though a call-up for his Newcastle teammate Lewis Hall is said to be unlikely.
