Newcastle United latest injury blow confirmed in official statement - not again
Newcastle United injuries: Tino Livramento’s injury has been officially confirmed by the Football Association.
Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento has officially withdrawn from the England squad, an FA statement has confirmed.
It’s the second successive England squad the 23-year-old has been forced to withdraw from due to injury. In the summer, Livramento was part of England’s World Cup squad but was sent home on the eve of the tournament after picking up a thigh injury.
Just as he was about to mark his return to Newcastle’s starting line-up in the absence of Amar Dedic, Livramento suffered a fresh setback on Friday that ruled him out of the 2-1 win over Hull City and England’s upcoming Nations League matches.

England withdrawal confirmed
A statement released by the FA on Monday confirmed Livramento as one of five players to withdraw from England’s upcoming matches against Spain, Czechia (twice) and Croatia.
“Tino Livramento, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford and Declan Rice have all been ruled out of England’s forthcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures,” the statement read. “The quintet have all withdrawn from the Three Lions squad due to respective injury issues.
“James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White have subsequently been called up and will report to St. George’s Park on Tuesday with the rest of the squad.
“Everton’s Garner won his first two senior caps in March 2026, while Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White has six appearances to his name.
“England have Spain at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 26 September (7.45pm) first up. The Three Lions then face Czechia in Prague on Tuesday 29 September (7.45pm UK time) and Croatia in Rijeka on Saturday 3 October (5pm UK time) before returning to Wembley to replay the Czechs on Tuesday 6 October (7.45pm) in UEFA Nations League Group A3.”
Matthias Jaissle on Tino Livramento
Jaissle confirmed Livramento would undergo an MRI scan to learn the true extent of his injury.
He told reporters on Saturday: “He suffered with some discomfort in the morning after [Friday] training. He will have an MRI scan but nothing more from my side on this.
“After this international window. We hope, we pray, and we’re optimistic. That’s the only thing at the moment in this situation, what we can do. We count on the medical department to get the players back as soon as possible.”
