Here’s the latest news and gossip surrounding the Magpies:

Newcastle tipped to win for Celtic star

Former Norway international Vidar Riseth has tipped Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer to sign for Newcastle United this summer.

Steve Bruce’s side are reportedly weighing up an £8million bid for the 23-year-old, who is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

Norwich City have also been linked with Ajer, however fellow countryman Riseth believes United are the most likely club to win the race for his signature.

“I think he’ll end up at Newcastle if he wants to leave,” he told the Daily Record.

“I’ve spoken with him many times and he likes Celtic.

“I also know the club is working to keep him. But if he is going to leave I would imagine it would be to Newcastle.”

West Ham ‘offer’ Florian Thauvin contract

West Ham United have reportedly tabled an offer to sign former Newcastle United flop Florian Thauvin.

Thauvin moved to St James’s Park for £12million in 2015 but after just 16 appearances, the winger returned to former club Marseille on loan before it was made permanent.

However, whilst his time on Tyneside proved disastrous, the 28-year-old has rebuilt his reputation in France and is now attracting a host of European interest as his contract ticks into the final months.

And David Moyes’ Hammers are said to have signaled their intent to sign the player by offering him a contract, as per French publication L’Equipe.

Allan Saint-Maximin up for double award

Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin has been nominated for two Premier League awards for the month of April.

The Frenchman’s return to fitness proved the inspiration behind the Magpies’ charge away from the relegation as he provided one goal and two assists.

As a result, the 23-year-old has been shortlisted for the player of the month award and the goal of the month award following his superb solo strike in the 2-1 win at Burnley.
