Newcastle United transfer news: European giants eye up move for Newcastle United star as Man United back away from midfielder deal

Newcastle United youngster Matty Longstaff is reportedly on the radar of two European giants as his Magpies deal runs down.

The 19-year-old midfielder sees his current contract come to an end in the summer, after what has proved to be his breakthrough campaign.

Two goals against Manchester United, the first on Premier League debut, has catapulted the Geordie on to a national platform, with an England under-20 call soon following.

And his performances have also piqued interest on the continent with the official Match of the Day magazine – edited by fellow Geordie journalist Matt Ketchell – claiming Inter Milan and AC Milan are both keeping an eye on the player, with view to a move.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are thought to have cooled their interest in Matty's brother Sean Longstaff.

National media reports over the weekend claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have stepped back from a deal after the Magpies failed to lower their £50million asking price.
