Newcastle United defeated Everton in the Premier League yesterday, with Callum Wilson’s double relieving some of the pressure on under-fire boss Steve Bruce.

In terms of transfers, the Magpies are said to be interested in signing Joe Willock on loan from Arsenal before the January transfer window closes tomorrow.

The Daily Mail report that the Arsenal midfielder is at the top Bruce’s transfer wish list.

In other news, Newcastle reportedly turned down a deal which would have seen Sean Longstaff leave on loan.

The Daily Mirror stated that Valencia have had bid for the midfielder rejected, which is said to have included a £15m option to buy the 23-year-old in the summer.

“We’ll see what develops – I think it could be a busy 48 hours for a few clubs,” said Bruce, who left Matt Ritchie and DeAndre Yedlin out of his squad. “We hope that we can still do one or two things.”
