Newcastle United aren’t the only English club interested in a loan deal for Arsenal defender William Saliba, reports in France say.

The £27million Frenchman is a loan target for Bruce this summer as he aims to bolster his backline.

But as per Footmercato, Southampton are also keen on adding Saliba to their ranks, along with a number of Ligue 1 clubs including Nice, Rennes, Marseille and Lille.

Furthermore, the Daily Mail claims United are continuing to keep tabs on 20-year-old Saliba, while they also want to sign Mario Lemina, who was on loan at Fulham last term.

Newcastle are reportedly keeping tabs on young Ecuador international Piero Hincapie.

The 19-year-old central defender, according to Spanish newspaper Diario de Sevilla, is attracting interest from the Magpies, Real Betis and Atletico Madrid.

Hincapie currently plays for CA Talleres in Argentina and has caught the attention of the United scouts, who view him as one for the future.

However, the La Liga pair are said to have already made contact with the two-capped Ecuador star’s representatives, suggesting Newcastle will have to step up their interest soon.

Schalke expecting Ozan Kabak sale

Schalke sporting director Rouven Schrode expects Ozan Kabak to be sold this summer following their relegation from the Bundesliga.

Newcastle came very close to signing the defender on a loan-to-buy deal in January before Liverpool swooped in at the last minute. Jurgen Klopp, however, opted against keeping him permanently.

And while the Turkish international remains on United’s shortlist, the German side will have to lower their reported £18m price tag to tempt Bruce and co into a second move.

Speaking to German magazine Kicker, Schrode said: “As of now, I don’t see any possibility that Ozan will stay at Schalke. We are clearly expecting a sale. Ozan has not lost his value.“
