Pep Guardiola confirms Manchester City star will miss Newcastle United clash

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed Kevin De Bruyne will miss Friday’s trip to Newcastle United.

The Belgian has struggled with a knock in recent weeks and as a result missed last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea.

With the Premier League title secured on Tuesday, City’s talisman is now facing a race to be fit for the Champions League final against Chelsea on May 29.

Guardiola’s side come up against Newcastle United Brighton and Everton before traveling to Porto after the final was moved from Istanbul.

The Man City boss said: “He's still injured but is getting better.

"When he's fit he'll come to training. The guys who are completely fit will have the chance to play the final.

"We give information to the players to play the last games of the season.”

Meanwhile, John Stones is back in contention after serving a three-match suspension.
