Rolando Aarons' emotional farewell message to Newcastle United fans

The winger today joined Huddersfield Town on a permanent deal after spending almost nine years at St James’s Park.

Aarons – who had had a series of loans away from the club after falling out of favour – had seen a proposed move to the Championship team fall through early in the season due to late paperwork.

The 25-year-old posted a message to Newcastle supporters on Twitter after the deal was confirmed.

“I’d like to thank @NUFC for giving me the opportunity to start my career as a footballer,” said Aarons. “It was always special stepping onto the pitch playing in front of 52,000 of the best fans I’ve ever seen. The club will always hold a special place in my heart, and I wish all the fans and the club the very best going forward. Once a Geordie.”
