The forward, signed two years ago from Mainz, is one of a number of players that Steve Bruce wants to move out of Newcastle United this summer.

“It hasn’t gone as well for him as I’m sure he’d have liked, but he’s the ultimate pro,” said head coach Steve Bruce. “He probably needs to go somewhere and play. It’s not healthy that he’s not going to be involved.”

Muto is in “advanced talks” with La Liga side Eibar, according to Football Insider. The 28-year-old has two years left on his contract.

Bruce also wants to move out Henri Saivet and Rolando Aarons out of the club before he names his 25-man Premier League squad, while Jacob Murphy and Dan Barlaser could again be loaned out. Bruce said: "I’ve got 28 (outfield players), and I’ve got to whittle that down to 22.”
