Vilca this week joined Newcastle United from Peruvian club Deportivo Municipal. Vilca is to join the club’s Under-23 squad, but the midfielder revealed on Instagram that he has been training with Bruce’s depleted senior squad during the two-week international break.
The 21-year-old – who has signed a four-year deal at Newcastle – is keen to hit the ground running at his new club.
"I'm conscious that there's a big gap between Peruvian football and English football, so in the first phase I want to consolidate and take advantage of the training ground, and the professionalism of Newcastle's staff, to try to close that gap as soon as possible.
