Steve Bruce 'could leave' Newcastle United in the summer
Steve Bruce could leave Newcastle United in the summer, according to a report.
The club this week secured its Premier League status following Fulham's 2-0 defeat to Burnley on Monday night. Bruce has another year on his contract, but the Daily Telegraph report that it’s “not certain” that he will stay.
The future of club’s head coach, it’s said, will depend on the outcome of a series of meetings in the coming weeks. Also, Bruce, backed by owner Mike Ashley in March following a dismal run of results, has reportedly been “badly hurt by the treatment he has received” on Tyneside.
The-60-year-old was asked if he would stay on during a controversial appearance on talkSPORT this week.
"It’s for others to decide,” said Bruce. "Most clubs will have big discussions and review the season. I’m a football person, and it’s still too early to retire yet, but those conversations will happen over the next couple of weeks, I’m sure."
