Steve Bruce has his say on speculation linking Newcastle United with another striker

Steve Bruce hasn’t ruled out more signings at Newcastle United – but the club MUST move out unwanted players.

Bruce this week signed Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis on permanent deals ahead of this evening’s Premier League season-opener against West Ham United.

The club has also explored the loan market – Arsenal defender Rob Holding is a primary target – and Bruce has been linked with a move for Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.

Jurgen Klopp, however, is yet to made a decision on the 20-year-old's future.

"The decisions about the squad are just not finished yet – we don't have to (decide) yet,” said Liverpool’s manager. “So there's nothing to say on loans. Nothing’s decided."

Bruce, for his part, knows he must move the likes of Henri Saivet, Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar out of the club in the coming weeks, and decide whether to loan out Jacob Murphy and Dan Barlaser again.

Asked if he wanted another striker, Bruce said: "I'm very, very comfortable with what I've got. I've got 28, I've got to whittle down to 22. I've only got Matty Longstaff, who’s young enough.

"There's going to be three, four, five people hanging around, unfortunately. They need to go and play somewhere.

"So I'm never going to say never, but, certainly, over next few weeks before the deadline, we've got to move people out.

"That's why we've let Flo (Lejeune) go on loan. He needs to play, he needs game time. I think that could be the same for some others."
