Newcastle United’s head coach started work on a book last year after being sacked as Aston Villa manager

A Kindle edition of “Theatre of Dreams: Playing, Managing and Everything in Between – My Autobiography”, written by Bruce, was made available for pre-order on Amazon. However, the project has been put on the “backburner” while Bruce manages his boyhood club.

“I was doing a book after Aston Villa, but I’ve left it alone,” said the 58-year-old. “If you’re going to do a book, you have to give it time. I was out of work and thought it might be an ideal time, but it’s on the backburner now.”

Bruce – who won three Premier League titles with Manchester United as a player – started his managerial career at tonight’s opponents Sheffield United 21 years ago.
