Steve Bruce is 'wary' about starting this Newcastle United player

The winger has made three appearances off the bench so far since joining the club as a free agent. Fraser’s last start for former club Bournemouth was on March 7 – and he’s edging closer to full fitness.

Bruce could be without Allan Saint-Maximin (ankle) against Tottenham Hotspur, and Fraser and Miguel Almiron are vying for a place in his starting XI against Jose Mourinho’s side tomorrow.

"It's a decision I have to make,” said United’s head coach. “He's played two and a half hours now in a week for the first time since March. He played against Liverpool in March. It's a hell of a long time.

"I'm just wary of him, because his game's all about pace and being explosive, so, yeah, we'll have to make that decision, and let's hope I make the right one."
