The defender has missed the club’s last three Premier League games due to what Steve Bruce described as “an issue with his visa". However, Yedlin – who has demanded “clarity" over his future at St James’s Park ahead of the expiry of his contract at the end of the season – is available for this afternoon’s game against Everton at Goodison Park.

“I think we’ve got that resolved,” said head coach Steve Bruce. “We think he’s going to be available.”

Bruce added: “Feddy Fernandez won’t make it. Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett trained yesterday for the first time. We’ll see how they are. It may be a bit early for them. We’re getting there. The big thing has not just been getting over injuries, it’s been getting over illness. We’re looking a lot healthier than we were six weeks ago.”
